One man died, and two others suffered injuries following a head-on collision in Dublin, Laurens County. The accident happened at about 8:15 a.m. on Monday, June 21st. According to the Georgia State Patrol (Post 20 Dublin), one of the vehicles involved drove into oncoming traffic.

The GSP preliminary investigation revealed a Mazda 5 traveled eastbound on Central Drive. The vehicle went into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons, colliding head-on with a 2009 GMC Sierra heading west. The collision in Dublin left the Mazda driver, 28-year-old Robert Parker, with injuries that claimed his life.

The two people traveling in the GMC suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment at local hospitals. There is no additional information on what led to the accident at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Head-on collisions are one of the most common types of road traffic accidents. It occurs when a driver travels in the wrong direction or suddenly veers off their lane into the opposite lane. In head-on collisions, the driver who goes off their lane is often the person at fault for the accident.

Since Georgia is an at-fault state, it follows that the wrong-way driver would pay compensation to the crash victim. Compensation is often economic and non-economic damages. They cover medical treatment, loss of income, property damages, pain and suffering, and mental anguish.

To get compensated, the victim commences an insurance claim with the fault party’s insurance carrier. The victim can also choose to commence the claim against their insurance provider and later recover the sum from the at-fault driver. Where the victim and the insurance company fail to agree, they can file a personal injury lawsuit.
