Superior Court of Gwinnett County

The Superior Court of Gwinnett County is a trial court of general jurisdiction. The court has exclusive, constitutional authority over felony cases, prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Office, regarding title to land, equity, declaratory judgments, habeas corpus, mandamus, quo warranto, prohibition, adoptions, and divorce.

This court is authorized to correct errors made by lower courts by issuing certiorari and, for some lower courts, the right to direct review by this court applies.

Treatment Court Program

The Treatment Court Program is a sentencing alternative for a person charged with DUI and a diversion program for a person charged with felony drug charges. The program offers participants intensive outpatient treatment, random drug screening, and Court reviews in order to help reduce the recidivism rate among the substance abusing population.
