Douglas County Juvenile Court

Douglas County Juvenile Court is an independent juvenile court organized under Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia.

The Court is dedicated to serving the residents of Douglas County by hearing all cases involving allegations of dependency of children under the age of eighteen, Children In Need of Services (CHINS), delinquency or traffic violations concerning children under the age of seventeen found within its jurisdictions.

Mission

The mission of the Juvenile Court of Douglas County is to serve children and families through prevention and early intervention services in delinquency and dependency cases, with a view toward diverting children and families from the court process.

Programs

Zero to Three (ZTT)

Douglas County Juvenile Courts Zero to Three Program Manager is assigned to navigating eligibility and ensuring that (Part C) services are provided in-home, outside of the home, in child care facilities during supervised visits for children ages 0 to 3 in foster care and under the jurisdiction of Douglas County Juvenile Court.

Part C services include medical, educational, Children’s 1st, and therapy services to name a few.

Baby Steps Recovery Program

The Baby Steps Recovery Program works with pregnant women with substance use issues, their families and families with children ages 0 to 3 that were prenatally exposed to substances.

We develop with the family a Plan of Safe Care that addresses substance use treatment, prenatal care, mental health treatment, and community resources for food, clothing, housing and health insurance.

The Baby Steps Recovery Program is a voluntary program open to all residents of Douglas County that provides case management, care coordination and support for a minimum of one year.

Family Treatment Court

The mission of the Family Treatment Court of the Douglas County Juvenile Court is to develop and sustain a collaborative systematic team approach to promote healthy, stable, permanent, drug-free, and safe families for children whose parents have substance use issues.
