Traffic Accident on Knight Road Claims One Life

A teenager identified as 18-year-old Tyler Hart passed away following a traffic accident on Knight Road in Bibb County. The accident occurred during the early hours of Monday, April 5th when a car failed to negotiate a curve rightly, according to the police report.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office’s press release, the incident happened precisely in the 4400 block of Knight Road. The Macon-Bibb 911 Center received a call about the collision at about 12:30 a.m.

The preliminary investigation disclosed that a Chevrolet 2500 operated by Jesse Ellis Partin, 48, traveled northbound on Knight Road. The vehicle came upon a slight curve, failed to negotiate it rightly, and crossed into the opposite travel lane.

A parked Ford F-150 was in front of a residence with Hart and two others sitting inside. The Chevrolet then slammed into the stationary vehicle. Hart died at the crash site while the other occupants suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Medics conveyed them to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment.

Partin also sustained injuries and received treatment at the same hospital. Immediately the doctors cleared the man, the sheriff’s office deputies took him to Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for a charge of vehicular homicide in the first degree.

The traffic accident on Knight Road remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information to contact them on the listed line and ask to speak with a fatality investigator.

Criminal charges usually follow fatal accidents where there’s clear evidence of negligence. However, a victim’s family can still file a civil action for wrongful death against the fault party. If they succeed, the court will grant them compensation for the loss suffered.
