Victim of Bibb County Motorcycle Accident Dies in the Hospital

The victim of a Bibb County motorcycle accident in March has died. On Tuesday, April 6th, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the County Coroner’s Office notified them that 48-year-old Ben Gleaton died around 1:44 p.m. that day. The man had been receiving treatment at Atrium Health Navicent since the accident.

In a previous report released by the sheriff’s office on Saturday, March 13th, they disclosed the accident occurred on Friday, March 12th. According to the traffic investigators, the crash took place on U.S. 80 near Tidwell Road. The Macon-Bibb 9111 Center received a call on the occurrence around 9:22 p.m.

When officers arrived at the crash scene, their initial investigation revealed that a three-wheeled Harley Davidson motorcycle went off the roadway. The bike traveled down the road’s shoulder and then rolled over. Ben and his wife, Sherry Gleaton, 47, both Lizella residents, were the only occupants of the motorcycle.

The report disclosed that medics took the couple to Atrium Health Navicent. Ben was listed in critical condition at the time, while Sherry was in a stable condition. The coroner’s office did not state the deceased’s victim’s primary cause of death.

The sheriff’s office said in the Tuesday update that the Bibb County motorcycle accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the occurrence can contact the sheriff’s office on the listed line.

It is not uncommon for accident victims to die days after the occurrence. When this happens, the family must link the victim’s death to their accident injuries if they will succeed in a compensation claim.

The action filed after a loved one’s death is called a wrongful death lawsuit. Find out more about this and the settlement options by contacting our Georgia wrongful death lawyers
